Much more than a Turkish bath in the Old City
Three centuries of ritual in the last great hammam of the Ottomans: hot marble, scrub, foam and a dome where time slows down.
A modern Turkish bath experience in a 300-year-old atmosphere
Built in 1741, Cağaloğlu Hamamı is the last great hammam constructed in the Ottoman Empire after a long pause. It was commissioned as a double public bath to fund the Library of Sultan Mahmud I inside Hagia Sophia, and the same ritual continues under the same domes today.

Experience the Turkish bath ritual with different approaches
Seven options, from a short break with The Istanbul Dream to the full two-therapist ritual of the Elixir of Cağaloğlu. Every package begins with the hot room, scrub and foam.

The same dome, the same marble, the same ritual for three centuries.
Built in 1741 to fund the library of Sultan Mahmud I; still the last great market hammam of Istanbul, still performing the same ritual.
Seven rituals; each begins with the hot room, scrub and foam.
Hot room
On the navel stone or in a private alcove, the warmth of the marble loosens the body and opens the pores.
Scrub
A personal, single-use mitt lifts away dead skin; the skin begins to breathe.
Foam massage
A cloud of olive-oil soap foam and a massage that travels from the feet to the head.
Rest and refreshments
Rest under the dome with linden tea, homemade sherbet and Turkish delight.

The last great hammam of the Ottomans
Begun by Süleyman Ağa and finished by Abdullah Ağa; the last great example of the three hundred baths Evliya Çelebi counted, and the only Turkish bath in the New York Times list “1,000 Places to See Before You Die”.

A dome that has hosted the world for three centuries
From Atatürk to Kaiser Wilhelm, from Franz Liszt to Harrison Ford and Kate Moss; marble that has hosted countless film and series productions.
